Day six bill introduction

Senators reconvened Jan. 14 to continue introduction of new bills.

Among the 40 measures introduced were:

LB1034, sponsored by Lincoln Sen. George Dungan, which would prohibit school staff from allowing federal immigration enforcement officers to access schools without a judicial warrant;

LB1038, introduced by Sen. Jana Hughes of Seward, which would change provisions relating to school funding and property taxes;

LB1045, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Terrell McKinney, which would adopt the Nebraska Public Housing Preservation Trust Act;

LB1047, introduced by Sen. Rick Holdcroft of Bellevue, which would authorize music bingo under the Nebraska Bingo Act and change provisions relating to special event bingo and prizes that can be awarded under the act;

LB1048, sponsored by La Vista Sen. John Arch at the request of Gov. Jim Pillen, which would change and eliminate reporting requirements for certain government agencies and preparation of the state executive budget and eliminate the Small Business Advisory Council, the Suggestion Award Board and the state employee suggestion system;

LB1050, introduced by Sen. Dave Murman of Glenvil at the governor’s request, which would amend the Nebraska Reading Improvement Act to limit advancement to grade four;

LB1064, sponsored by Lincoln Sen. Eliot Bostar, which would adopt the Large Load Customer Regulation Act;

LB1066, introduced by Sen. John Fredrickson of Omaha, which would require members of the Legislature to complete a civics assessment;

LB1068, sponsored by David City Sen. Jared Storm, which would change requirements for petition circulators and sponsors under the Election Act; and

LR303CA, introduced by Sen. Machaela Cavanaugh of Omaha, a proposed constitutional amendment to provide for paid family medical leave.
