Day two bill introduction

Senators reconvened Jan. 8 to continue introduction of new bills.

Among the 78 measures introduced were:

LB837, sponsored by North Platte Sen. Mike Jacobson, which would provide for rounding of certain cash transaction amounts;

LB843, introduced by Sen. Victor Rountree of Bellevue, which would require the state Department of Health and Human Services to file a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program waiver for refugees and immigrants;

LB849, sponsored by Omaha Sen. John Cavanaugh, which would provide a sales and use tax exemption for over-the-counter drugs;

LB870, introduced by Sen. Bob Andersen of Omaha, which would change residence requirements relating to tuition and fees at state postsecondary educational institutions;

LB876, sponsored by Syracuse Sen. Bob Hallstrom, which would adopt the Immediate Protection from Abuse Act and change notice requirements under the Protection Orders Act;

LB881, introduced by Sen. Dunixi Guereca of Omaha, which would require law enforcement agencies, jails and the Nebraska State Patrol to receive approval prior to entering into agreements to enforce immigration law;

LB894, sponsored by Niobrara Sen. Barry DeKay, which would change provisions relating to the Grain Dealer Act and the Grain Warehouse Act;

LB897, introduced by Sen. Dan Lonowski of Hastings, which would change a penalty and provide a fee for violating the open burning ban;

LB907, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Margo Juarez, which would prohibit law enforcement officers from entering community safe spaces to enforce immigration law; and

LB908, introduced by Sen. Jared Storm of David City, which would require courts to consider certain research in determining the best interests of the child under the Parenting Act.
