Change to legislative approval for donated state park land advanced
Lawmakers gave first-round approval April 24 to a measure that would change the approval process for an indication of intent to incorporate land into the Nebraska state park system.

Under current law, the full Legislature must give approval for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission to provide an indication of intent to incorporate land or facilities owned by a local governmental subdivision or agency into the state park system.
Under LB364, sponsored by Grand Island Sen. Dan Quick, the Executive Board could provide approval when the Legislature is not in session. Quick said similar procedures exist for acceptance of real property donated by state agencies.
Lawmakers advanced the proposal to select file on a 33-1 vote.
