Day seven bill introduction
Senators reconvened Jan. 16 to continue introduction of new bills.
Among the 73 measures introduced were:
LB312, sponsored by Sen. Paul Strommen of Sidney, which would provide for student loans to students in nurse anesthesia practice programs and loan repayments for nurse anesthetists under the Rural Health Systems and Professional Incentive Act;
LB317, introduced by Plymouth Sen. Tom Brandt at the request of Gov. Jim Pillen, which would merge the state Department of Natural Resources with the state Department of Environment and Energy and change the name to the Department of Water, Energy and Environment and provide, change and eliminate powers and duties;
LB322, sponsored by Sen. Stan Clouse of Kearney, which would prohibit assault on frontline behavioral health staff and clarify provisions relating to assault on officers, emergency responders, certain employees and health care professionals;
LB331, introduced by Gering Sen. Brian Hardin, which would adopt the Nebraska EPIC Option Consumption Tax Act and terminate tax provisions;
LB338, sponsored by Sen. Dave Wordekemper of Fremont, which would prohibit the use of genetic information for life insurance, disability insurance and long-term care insurance;
LB340, introduced by Syracuse Sen. Bob Hallstrom, which would adopt the Asbestos Trust Claims Transparency Act and the Asbestos Claims Priorities and Over-Naming Reform Act;
LB346, sponsored by Sen. John Arch of La Vista at the governor’s request, would change qualifications of the State Capitol Administrator, provide for termination of boards, commissions, committees, councils, funds, panels, task forces, the Conservation Corporation Act and the Nebraska Potato Development Act and change and eliminate funds and powers and duties of departments and agencies;
LB369, introduced by Omaha Sen. Megan Hunt, which would allow persons 18 years of age to make health care decisions and persons under 19 years of age in correctional facilities to consent to medical and mental health care;
LB371, sponsored by Sen. Wendy DeBoer of Bennington, which would provide liability for computer-generated images under the Uniform Civil Remedies for Unauthorized Disclosure of Intimate Images Act; and
LB379, introduced by Omaha Sen. Bob Andersen, which would change the maximum time limit for receipt of cash assistance under the Welfare Reform Act.
