Day four bill introduction
Senators reconvened Jan. 13 to continue introduction of new bills.
Among the 67 measures introduced were:
LB131, sponsored by Elkhorn Sen. Tony Sorrentino, which would include elementary and secondary schools in the Nebraska educational savings plan trust and change tax benefits;
LB140, introduced by Sen. Rita Sanders of Bellevue at the request of Gov. Jim Pillen, which would require school policies relating to use of electronic communication devices by students;
LB147, sponsored by Blair Sen. Ben Hansen, which would change provisions relating to approval and regulation of adding fluoride to the water supply of certain political subdivisions;
LB151, introduced by Sen. John Cavanaugh of Omaha, which would adopt the First-Time Homebuyers Savings Account Act and provide income tax adjustments;
LB155, sponsored by Gering Sen. Brian Hardin, which would allow the use of deadly force without retreating when lawfully present in a motor vehicle;
LB156, introduced by Sen. Danielle Conrad of Lincoln, which would allow tort claims under the State Tort Claims Act and Political Subdivisions Tort Claims Act for sexual assaults of children in school settings;
LB159, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Dunixi Guereca, which would provide for sentencing consideration of a defendant’s status as a victim of abuse or trafficking;
LB162, introduced by Sen. Margo Juarez of Omaha, which would adopt the Child Care Safety and Security Act;
LB170, sponsored by Plymouth Sen. Tom Brandt, which would eliminate the sales tax exemptions for candy and soft drinks; and
LB178, introduced by Sen. Stan Clouse of Kearney, which would require mandatory server training under the Nebraska Liquor Control Act.
