La Grone appointed to Legislature

Gov. Pete Ricketts announced Dec. 17 the appointment of Andrew La Grone of Gretna to represent District 49 in the Nebraska Legislature. Gretna Sen. John Murante was elected state treasurer in November and will vacate the legislative seat next month.

La Grone currently serves as legal counsel to the Legislature’s Government, Military and Veterans Affairs Committee. According to a press release from the governor’s office, La Grone received a J.D. from the University of Nebraska College of Law and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

La Grone will be sworn in Jan. 9, when the 106th Nebraska Legislature convenes for its first session. His term ends in January 2021. La Grone will be eligible to run for election to the seat in the November 2020 general election.
