Expanded military student enrollment policy approved

A measure aimed at modifying school district enrollment procedures for children of military families was given final approval by lawmakers April 3.

LB143, introduced by Bellevue Sen. Victor Rountree, requires school districts to include in their preliminary and advanced enrollment policies children of military families who have an Individualized Family Service Plan, an Individualized Education Program or who receive special education services.

LB143 passed on a 47-0 vote.
