Day eight bill introduction
Senators reconvened Jan. 17 to continue introduction of new bills.
Among the 52 measures introduced were:
LB383, sponsored by Whitman Sen. Tanya Storer at the request of Gov. Jim Pillen, which would adopt the Parental Rights in Social Media Act;
LB389, introduced by Sen. Dave Murman of Glenvil, which would eliminate the authority of educational service units and provide state funding to educational service units;
LB400, sponsored by Fremont Sen. Dave Wordekemper, which would provide for compensation under the Nebraska Workers’ Compensation Act for cancers experienced by firefighters;
LB403, introduced by Sen. Ashlei Spivey of Omaha, which would create the Office of Grants and provide duties;
LB408, sponsored by Lincoln Sen. George Dungan, which would adopt the Special Education Teacher Forgivable Loan Program Act;
LB410, introduced by Sen. John Cavanaugh of Omaha, which would require insurance coverage of prosthetics and orthotics;
LB419, sponsored by Hastings Sen. Dan Lonowski, which would change provisions relating to admission to veterans homes and veterans aid;
LB421, introduced by Sen. Stan Clouse of Kearney, which would allow an authorized gaming operator to conduct sports wagering by means of an online sports wagering platform under the Nebraska Racetrack Gaming Act and change the distribution of taxes collected from sports wagering;
LB427, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Bob Andersen, which would require the state treasurer to establish an educational savings account for students enrolled in kindergarten through grade 12 at an approved or accredited public, private, denominational or parochial school; and
LB432, introduced by Sen. Loren Lippincott of Central City, which would provide for carrying out the death penalty by nitrogen hypoxia.
