Day three bill introduction

Lawmakers introduced 64 measures on the final day of bill introduction July 29.

Among the proposals were:

LB41, sponsored by Sen. Jana Hughes of Seward, which would change the tax on sales of electronic nicotine delivery systems;

LB42, introduced by Glenvil Sen. Dave Murman, which would provide a duty for the Education Committee of the Legislature related to the Tax Equity and Educational Opportunities Support Act;

LB45, sponsored by Sen. Lou Ann Linehan of Elkhorn, which would change provisions relating to local system formula resources under the Tax Equity and Educational Opportunities Support Act;

LB60, introduced by Omaha Sen. Justin Wayne, which would change tax provisions relating to cigars, cheroots and stogies;

LB69, sponsored by Sen. Danielle Conrad of Lincoln, which would rename and change the Property Tax Credit Act and the Property Tax Credit Cash Fund;

LB71, introduced by Omaha Sen. Terrell McKinney, which would adopt the Nebraska Cannabis Legalization and Revenue Allocation Act and the Cannabis Conviction Relief Act;

LB77, sponsored by Sen. Mike McDonnell of Omaha, which would adopt the Long-Term Resident Homestead Exemption Act;

LB81, introduced by Hastings Sen. Steve Halloran, which would provide a termination date for the Tax Equity and Educational Opportunities Support Act;

LR21CA, sponsored by Sen. Julie Slama of Dunbar, a proposed constitutional amendment that would prohibit political subdivisions from increasing fiscal year spending beyond a limit based on inflation and population change unless approved by voters at a general election; and

LR23CA, introduced by Wayne, a proposed constitutional amendment that would require the Legislature to authorize, regulate and provide for the taxation of gambling activities and to designate how the tax proceeds of such gambling activities are used.
