Appointments made to special committees

The Executive Board of the Legislature announced appointments to two special committees April 8.

The Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Special Oversight Committee was created March 23 with passage of LR25. The committee will provide oversight of administration, operations and planning at the state’s YRTCs, including funding, capacity and staffing practices.

Appointed to the committee are:
La Vista Sen. John Arch;
Hastings Sen. Steve Halloran;
Blair Sen. Ben Hansen;
Omaha Sen. Steve Lathrop;
Kearney Sen. John Lowe;
Lincoln Sen. Patty Pansing Brooks;
Omaha Sen. Tony Vargas;
Fremont Sen. Lynne Walz; and
Lincoln Sen. Anna Wishart.

The committee will issue a report to the Legislature by Dec. 15, 2021, and will terminate Dec. 31, 2021.

Lawmakers established the Eastern Service Area Child Welfare Contract Special Investigative and Oversight Committee of the Legislature March 30 with adoption of LR29.

The committee will study the procurement process undertaken by the state Department of Health and Human Services and Administrative Services to award, implement and oversee the contract with Saint Francis Ministries to provide child welfare services in the eastern service area.

Appointed to the committee are:

Lincoln Sen. Suzanne Geist;
Lincoln Sen. Matt Hansen;
Seward Sen. Mark Kolterman;
Omaha Sen. Terrell McKinney;

Omaha Sen. Justin Wayne.

The committee will issue a report to the Legislature by Dec. 15, 2021, and will terminate Dec. 31, 2022.
