Bills introduced Jan. 18

Lawmakers reconvened Jan. 18 to continue introducing new bills.

Among the measures introduced were:

  • LB479, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Steve Lathrop, which would authorize a minor to give consent to evidence collection, examination and treatment in cases of sexual assault;
  • LB482, sponsored by Hastings Sen. Dennis Utter, which would change provisions governing industrial disputes involving municipal corporations under the Industrial Relations Act;
  • LB486, sponsored by Ellsworth Sen. LeRoy Louden, which would change provisions relating to compensation and contributions under the School Employees Retirement Act;
  • LB493, sponsored by Boys Town Sen. Rich Pahls, which would provide dependent health insurance up to age 26;
  • LB504, sponsored by Lincoln Sen. Kathy Campbell, which would change motor fuel tax rates;
  • LB508, sponsored by Hoskins Sen. Dave Bloomfield, which would authorize certain residency restrictions for sexual predators near parks;
  • LB516, sponsored by Imperial Sen. Mark Christensen, which would authorize carrying of concealed handguns in educational institutions by security personnel, administrators or teaching staff;
  • LB521, sponsored by Lincoln Sen. Tony Fulton, which would regulate how certain drugs used to induce an abortion shall be administered;
  • LB528, sponsored by Holdrege Sen. Tom Carlson, which would change the tax levy authority of natural resources districts; and
  • LB540, sponsored by the Health and Human Services Committee, which would require a Medicaid waiver relating to family planning services.

New bills may be introduced for the first 10 legislative days, or until Jan. 19.

Committee hearings begin Jan. 18 and continue through mid-March.
