Bill to decrease time limit between Keno games advances

Lawmakers gave first-round approval Feb. 27 to a bill that would amend the current five-minute time limit required between Keno games.

LB273, introduced by Wilber Sen. Russ Karpisek, would reduce the time that Keno operators must wait between games to three minutes.

Karpisek said the measure simply is an attempt to allow more Keno games to be played, resulting in more revenue for cities. Keno profits are used to buy fire and police vehicles and build parks, he said.

“This is seen as a good way for cities to bring in extra money,” Karpisek said.

The bill advanced to select file on a 25-14 vote.
