Bills introduced Jan. 10

Lawmakers reconvened Jan. 10 to continue introducing new bills.

Among the measures introduced were:

  • LB211, sponsored by Bellevue Sen. Abbie Cornett, which would change sales and use tax provisions;
  • LB216, sponsored by Lincoln Sen. Colby Coash, which would provide for special interest motor vehicle plates;
  • LB219, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Beau McCoy, which would adopt the Health Care Freedom Act;
  • LB221, sponsored by Fremont Sen. Charlie Janssen, which would provide for drug screening of public assistance applicants and recipients;
  • LB222, sponsored by Grand Island Sen. Mike Gloor, which would change scope of practice considerations under the Nebraska Regulation of Health Professions Act;
  • LB223, sponsored by Wilber Sen. Russ Karpisek, which would require insurance coverage for cochlear implants;
  • LB224, sponsored by Lincoln Sen. Bill Avery, which would change provisions relating to the recall of certain political subdivision officials;
  • LB225, sponsored by Lincoln Sen. Kathy Campbell, which would change provisions relating to issuance of credentials under the Uniform Credentialing Act;
  • LB227, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Heath Mello, which would require the State Energy Office to perform a state energy assessment; and
  • LB229, sponsored by Valentine Sen. Deb Fischer, which would transfer funds from the Nebraska Environmental Trust Fund to the Water Resources Cash Fund.

New bills may be introduced for the first 10 legislative days, or until Jan. 19.

Gov. Dave Heineman’s State of the State address is scheduled for Jan. 13. Committee hearings are scheduled to begin on Jan. 18 and continue through mid-March.
