Craighead resigns from Legislature

Sen. Joni Craighead of Omaha announced her resignation from the Legislature Sept. 1, citing family and work commitments. Craighead, who would have been up for reelection in 2018, will leave office effective Sept. 8, 2017.

Gov. Pete Ricketts has announced that his office is accepting applications to fill the District 6 vacancy until Friday, Sept. 29. The application form can be found at www.Governor.Nebraska.gov. Eligible applicants must have lived in the district for one full year, be registered to vote and be at least 21 years old.

The appointee will serve until January 2019.
