Day 10 bill introduction

Senators introduced 60 new measures on the final day of bill introduction Jan. 23.

Among the proposals were:

LB1165, sponsored by Gering Sen. John Stinner, which would eliminate the Nebraska Brand Committee and provide powers and duties for the Department of Agriculture under the Livestock Brand Act;

LB1167, sponsored by Thurston Sen. Joni Albrecht, which would require members of the public to be allowed to speak at each meeting subject to the Open Meetings Act;

LB1170, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Michaela Cavanaugh, which would provide for implicit bias training, coverage under the medical assistance program for doula services and postpartum women, instruction to health professionals and a pilot program;

LB1179, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Justin Wayne, which would adopt the ImagiNE Small Business and Urban Revitalization Act;

LB1191, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Sara Howard, which would require the Department of Health and Human Services, the Office of Juvenile Services and the Department of Correctional Services to allow employees to speak to members of the Legislature and the public counsel;

LB1192, sponsored by Elkhorn Sen. Lou Ann Linehan, which would limit the total amount reimbursed by the state for homestead exemptions;

LB1201, sponsored by Brainard Sen. Bruce Bostelman, which would create the Flood Mitigation and Planning Task Force;

LB1207, sponsored by Omaha Sen. John McCollister, which would adopt the Redistricting Act;

LB1216, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Tony Vargas, which would Adopt the H3 Rural Renewal Award Act; and

LR300CA, sponsored by Bayard Sen. Steve Erdman, which would propose a constitutional amendment to prohibit all forms of taxation other than a consumption tax.
