Ag machinery tax exemption approved

Senators gave final approval March 27 to a bill that exempts certain agricultural machinery purchases from state sales tax.

Under LB96, introduced by Fullerton Sen. Annette Dubas, the sale of repairs and replacement parts for agricultural machinery or equipment is exempt from state sales tax. Any qualifying purchases made prior to Oct. 1, 2014, remain eligible for refund.

Senators passed the bill on a 40-0 vote.
