Bills introduced Jan. 12

Lawmakers reconvened Jan. 12 to continue introducing new bills.

Among the measures introduced were:

  • LB282, sponsored by Ellsworth Sen. LeRoy Louden, which would appropriate funds to the Designated Collection Fund for use by the Commission on Indian Affairs;
  • LB283, sponsored by Malcolm Sen. Ken Haar, which would provide school boards with tax levy and bond authority relating to energy efficiency projects;
  • LB284, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Bob Krist, which would change provisions relating to unlawful picketing of a funeral;
  • LB294, sponsored by Wilber Sen. Russ Karpisek, which would prohibit alcohol sales during certain hours to 21-year-olds;
  • LB295, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Steve Lathrop, which would provide a complaint procedure with the Public Service Commission regarding towing and storage fees;
  • LB301, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Brad Ashford, which would change provisions for sealing records under the Nebraska Juvenile Code;
  • LB319, sponsored by Bellevue Sen. Abbie Cornett, which would change reimbursement for homestead exemptions;
  • LB334, sponsored by the Education Committee, which would change and eliminate certain postsecondary education positions and programs;
  • LB340, sponsored by Fullerton Sen. Annette Dubas, which would adopt the Hazardous Liquid Pipeline Notification Act; and
  • LB343, sponsored by Bancroft Sen. Lydia Brasch, which would change land surveyor registration requirements.

New bills may be introduced for the first 10 legislative days, or until Jan. 19.

Gov. Dave Heineman’s State of the State address is scheduled for Jan. 13. Committee hearings are scheduled to begin on Jan. 18 and continue through mid-March.
