{"id":8733,"date":"2013-02-08T16:09:25","date_gmt":"2013-02-08T22:09:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/?p=8733"},"modified":"2013-03-11T12:26:59","modified_gmt":"2013-03-11T18:26:59","slug":"bill-would-authorize-commission-orders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/?p=8733","title":{"rendered":"Bill would authorize commission orders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Natural Resources Committee heard testimony Feb. 8 on a bill\u00a0that would increase powers delegated to the state Game and Parks Commission.<\/p>\n<p>LB499, introduced by Bancroft Sen. Lydia Brasch, would establish a new set of administrative procedures under which commission orders could be passed. Currently, the commission cannot hear public testimony on issues \u2014 including conservation orders, seasons, open and closed areas and bag limits \u2014 and make decisions on those issues during the same hearing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis has led participants to become frustrated that the commission seemingly is not listening to their concerns,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The bill would categorize these issues under new administrative procedures, which would allow the commission to make changes to the orders at the same meeting in response to public input before publishing final orders.<\/p>\n<p>Timothy McCoy, deputy director of the state Game and Parks Commission, testified in support of the bill.
