{"id":7277,"date":"2012-04-02T16:39:03","date_gmt":"2012-04-02T22:39:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/?p=7277"},"modified":"2013-03-11T13:04:27","modified_gmt":"2013-03-11T19:04:27","slug":"credentialing-review-program-updated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/?p=7277","title":{"rendered":"Credentialing review program updated"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The process used to propose credentials and changes in scope of practice will be expanded under a bill passed by the Legislature April 2.<\/p>\n<p>LB834, introduced by Grand Island Sen. Mike Gloor, changes the Credentialing Review Program.<\/p>\n<p>The bill changes the current process by:<br \/>\n\u2022 changing the role of the Technical Review Committee (TRC) to clearly state that it can make investigations it deems necessary;<br \/>\n\u2022 requiring the TRC to recommend whether the proposal will benefit the public;<br \/>\n\u2022 allowing the TRC to weigh the evidence in total to recommend denial or approval of an application;<br \/>\n\u2022 changing TRC membership to allow no more than one member of the applicant group or profession seeking to be regulated or changing its scope of practice;<br \/>\n\u2022 updating the funding mechanism to allow all administrative costs associated with credentialing activity to be paid from the Professional and Occupational Credentialing Cash Fund;<br \/>\n\u2022 expanding oversight of the program beyond health care professions to include other professions that are or could be regulated by the state Department of Health and Human Services;<br \/>\n\u2022 simplifying application requirements and including information regarding the status of third-party reimbursements and other states\u2019 scopes of practice;<br \/>\n\u2022 changing the scope of practice criteria to remove the \u201crisk of harm\u201d requirement; and<br \/>\n\u2022 extending the time frame from nine months to 12 months for the department to make a final recommendation.<\/p>\n<p>A Health and Human Services Committee amendment made the following changes to the bill:<br \/>\n\u2022 clarified that clergy are not considered health professionals under the program;<br \/>\n\u2022 added criteria to the scope of practice criteria that \u201cthe health, safety and welfare of the public is inadequately addressed\u201d by the present scope of practice; and<br \/>\n\u2022 clarified that the report from the TRC will include written findings on all criteria.<\/p>\n<p>Senators passed the bill on a 46-0 vote.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The process used to propose credentials and changes in scope of practice will be expanded under a bill passed by<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"colormag_page_container_layout":"default_layout","colormag_page_sidebar_layout":"default_layout","jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_dont_email_post_to_subs":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":false,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","default_image_id":0,"font":"","enabled":false},"version":2}},"categories":[12],"tags":[75],"class_list":["post-7277","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-health-and-human-services","tag-sen-mike-gloor"],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/7277","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=7277"}],"version-history":[{"count":6,"href":"https:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/7277\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":9792,"href":"https:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/7277\/revisions\/9792"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=7277"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=7277"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=7277"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
