{"id":5385,"date":"2011-11-10T12:10:19","date_gmt":"2011-11-10T18:10:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/?p=5385"},"modified":"2013-03-11T14:21:59","modified_gmt":"2013-03-11T20:21:59","slug":"committee-advances-pipeline-bill-for-debate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/?p=5385","title":{"rendered":"Committee advances pipeline bill for debate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Natural Resources Committee voted Nov. 9 to advance to the full Legislature a bill that would give the governor final authority to approve pipeline routes in Nebraska.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/nebraskalegislature.gov\/bills\/view_bill.php?DocumentID=15278\">LB4<\/a>, introduced by Schuyler Sen. Chris Langemeier, would adopt the Oil Pipeline Route Certification Act. Under the bill, authority to issue a route certification for a proposed pipeline ultimately would rest with the governor.<\/p>\n<p>LB4 would establish a panel of experts and landowners to advise the governor. The bill also would require the state Department of Natural Resources to receive applications and hold a public meeting regarding a proposed pipeline route.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, LB4 would require a route certificate to be obtained before eminent domain rights could be exercised by a pipeline carrier.<\/p>\n<p>The committee voted 7-1 to advance the bill.
