LB1<\/a>, a proposal that would create the Major Oil Pipeline Siting Act. The bill would define a major oil pipeline as one greater than six inches in inside diameter.<\/p>\nAmong other provisions, LB1 would establish an application process for the routing of a major oil pipeline in Nebraska. The Public Service Commission would be responsible for holding public hearings regarding siting proposals and evaluating and approving applications.<\/p>\n
Under the bill, an approved application would be required prior to a company being granted eminent domain rights.<\/p>\n
Lawmakers also welcomed newly appointed Sen. R. Paul Lambert of Plattsmouth. Lambert, a former Plattsmouth mayor and city council member, was appointed by the governor Oct. 7 to replace Sen. Dave Pankonin, who resigned.<\/p>\n
The Legislature adjourned for the day following introduction of LB1.<\/p>\n
Senators will reconvene Nov. 2 at 11 a.m. to continue bill introduction.<\/p>\n
