{"id":4341,"date":"2011-04-18T12:35:10","date_gmt":"2011-04-18T18:35:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/?p=4341"},"modified":"2013-03-11T14:59:22","modified_gmt":"2013-03-11T20:59:22","slug":"child-enticement-penalties-advance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/?p=4341","title":{"rendered":"Child enticement penalties advance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Senators advanced a bill April 18 that would change provisions of the state\u2019s criminal child enticement law.<\/p>\n<p>LB665, introduced by Sen. Pete Pirsch of Omaha, would prohibit attempts to solicit, coax, entice or lure a child under the age of 14 to enter a place intending to seclude him or her from a parent, guardian, legal custodian or the general public, whether or not the person knows the age of the child.<\/p>\n<p>Current law prohibits only the luring of a child into a vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Violations would be a Class IIIA felony. If the perpretrator has been convicted of criminal child enticement, assault or sexual assault of a child, kidnapping or false imprisonment of a victim younger than 18, he or she could be guilty of a Class III felony.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are real dangers that exist for children in our state,\u201d Pirsch said. \u201cLB665 is a bill that is intended to better protect children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The bill was advanced from general file on a 39-0 vote.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Senators advanced a bill April 18 that would change provisions of the state\u2019s criminal child enticement law.
