Lydia Brasch, political parties are prohibited from nominating a candidate for an office at a state post-primary convention if the party did not nominate a candidate for the office at the primary election.<\/p>\n<p>An exception is provided for new political parties and parties may nominate candidates at a convention in cases of a special election or a vacancy on the ballot.<\/p>\n<p>LB368 passed on a 48-0 vote.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Senators gave final approval March 10 to a bill that clarifies when a political party can nominate a candidate.
