Carolyn Bosn<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Currently, Nebraska law provides such immunity only for the use of naloxone, commonly known by its brand name Narcan. The committee considered two bills that would amend the Uniform Controlled Substances Act to broaden immunity language to include any opioid overdose reversal drugs approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LB5, introduced by Lincoln Sen. Carolyn Bosn, would replace &#8220;naloxone&#8221; in state statute with &#8220;opioid antagonist,&#8221; and LB195, sponsored by Sen. Glen Meyer<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meyer said that since FDA approval of naloxone in 2019, additional medications for opioid overdose have become available.
