Pete Ricketts announced May 16 that he is seeking applicants to fill the vacant legislative seat of the late Sen. Rich Pahls.<\/p>\n<p>Pahls, who died April 27, served southwest Omaha\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/sos.nebraska.gov\/sites\/sos.nebraska.gov\/files\/doc\/elections\/maps\/Legislature\/LEG21-39006-31_signed.pdf\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">District 31<\/a> in the Nebraska Legislature.<\/p>\n<p>Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. CST on Friday, May 27th. To be eligible, an applicant must have lived in the district for one year, be at least 21 and be registered to vote. The governor&#8217;s appointee will serve until Jan. 3, 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Voters will choose a replacement in the 2022 general election in November to serve the remaining two years of Pahls\u2019 original term, which ends in January of 2025.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gov.
