{"id":30952,"date":"2022-01-05T14:58:58","date_gmt":"2022-01-05T20:58:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/?p=30952"},"modified":"2024-01-03T14:03:03","modified_gmt":"2024-01-03T20:03:03","slug":"legislature-reconvenes-for-second-session","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/?p=30952","title":{"rendered":"Legislature convenes for second session"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Senators returned to the State Capitol Jan. 5 to begin the second session of the 107th Nebraska Legislature.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New bills will be introduced for the first 10 days of the session, or until Jan. 20.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lawmakers will consider a variety of measures to allocate more than $1 billion in federal funds. New bills related to property taxes, abortion, education funding and prison reform also are expected to generate significant debate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Several proposals originally introduced last session likely will be discussed this year, including a measure that would authorize Nebraska\u2019s participation in a convention of the states to consider possible amendments to the U.S. Constitution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">General and select file debate on bills carried over from 2021 will begin Jan. 10.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gov.
