The Executive Board of the Legislature announced appointments to two special committees April 8.<\/p>\n
The Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Special Oversight Committee was created March 23 with passage of LR25. The committee will provide oversight of administration, operations and planning at the state\u2019s YRTCs, including funding, capacity and staffing practices.<\/p>\n
Appointed to the committee are:
\nLa Vista Sen. John Arch;
\nHastings Sen. Steve Halloran;
\nBlair Sen. Ben Hansen;
\nOmaha Sen. Steve Lathrop;
\nKearney Sen. John Lowe;
\nLincoln Sen. Patty Pansing Brooks;
\nOmaha Sen. Tony Vargas;
\nFremont Sen. Lynne Walz; and
\nLincoln Sen. Anna Wishart.<\/p>\n
The committee will issue a report to the Legislature by Dec. 15, 2021, and will terminate Dec. 31, 2021.<\/p>\n
Lawmakers established the Eastern Service Area Child Welfare Contract Special Investigative and Oversight Committee of the Legislature March 30 with adoption of LR29.<\/p>\n
The committee will study the procurement process undertaken by the state Department of Health and Human Services and Administrative Services to award, implement and oversee the contract with Saint Francis Ministries to provide child welfare services in the eastern service area.<\/p>\n
