{"id":27934,"date":"2020-03-20T18:00:36","date_gmt":"2020-03-21T00:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/?p=27934"},"modified":"2020-03-20T18:00:36","modified_gmt":"2020-03-21T00:00:36","slug":"legislature-to-reconvene-for-covid-19-funding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/?p=27934","title":{"rendered":"Legislature to reconvene for COVID-19 funding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Senators will reconvene temporarily March 23 to address funding needs that have arisen from the spread of COVID-19 in Nebraska.<\/p>\n<p>Speaker Jim Scheer of Norfolk announced March 20 that the Legislature will reconvene for three legislative days for the limited purpose of authorizing emergency funding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI realize the severity of the public health crisis we are facing,\u201d Scheer said. \u201cI am only bringing the Legislature back into session because it is necessary for us to authorize this critical funding so that Nebraska can respond sufficiently to the current crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Due to public safety concerns regarding the spread of the new coronavirus, the speaker indefinitely suspended the session March 16.
