{"id":11725,"date":"2013-05-02T10:40:07","date_gmt":"2013-05-02T16:40:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/?p=11725"},"modified":"2013-05-02T10:40:07","modified_gmt":"2013-05-02T16:40:07","slug":"metropolitan-utilities-district-changes-pass","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/?p=11725","title":{"rendered":"Metropolitan utilities district changes pass"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lawmakers passed a bill May 1 that makes several technical changes to state law governing metropolitan utilities districts.<\/p>\n<p>LB208, introduced by Omaha Sen. Burke Harr, makes the following changes:<br \/>\n\u2022 allows the board to decrease the president\u2019s salary;<br \/>\n\u2022 eliminates a requirement that the district obtain a bond of not less than $10,000 on the president&#8217;s performance;<br \/>\n\u2022 allows the board to establish its own standards for fire hydrant placement, as long as such standards do not violate any state Department of Health and Human Services regulations; and<br \/>\n\u2022 removes a requirement that an employee must first have been made a permanent employee by a unanimous vote of the full board of directors in order to be removed from his or her position.<\/p>\n<p>The board still will be able to remove an employee for cause by a two-thirds vote.<\/p>\n<p>The bill passed on a 46-0 vote.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lawmakers passed a bill May 1 that makes several technical changes to state law governing metropolitan utilities districts.
