{"id":11407,"date":"2013-04-18T11:55:08","date_gmt":"2013-04-18T17:55:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/?p=11407"},"modified":"2013-04-18T11:55:08","modified_gmt":"2013-04-18T17:55:08","slug":"expansion-of-education-as-welfare-work-requirement-advanced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/update.legislature.ne.gov\/?p=11407","title":{"rendered":"Expansion of education as welfare work requirement advanced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lawmakers advanced a bill April 18 that would expand eligibility for using education to satisfy work requirements in order to qualify for certain public benefits.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the Welfare Reform Act allows participants younger than 24 to pursue a high school diploma or General Educational Development Test (GED) and remain in compliance with the Aid to Dependent Children Program\u2019s (ADC) work requirements.<\/p>\n<p>LB240, introduced by Scottsbluff Sen.
