Senators reconvened Jan. 17 to continue introduction of new bills.

Among the 163 measures introduced were:

LB481, introduced by Lincoln Sen. Jane Raybould, which would adopt the Housing Incentive District Act;

LB505, introduced by Sen. Eliot Bostar of Lincoln, which would provide for motor vehicle registration of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, impose an excise tax on electric energy used at commercial electric vehicle charging stations, provide for regulation of commercial electric vehicle charging stations and provide a sales tax exemption for certain electric energy;

LB516, introduced by Fremont Sen. Lynne Walz, which would provide and change powers and duties for the state Department of Education, commissioner of education, State Board of Education and the state school security director, provide grants to school districts for security-related infrastructure projects and provide grants to educational service units and local public health departments to hire school psychologists and licensed mental health practitioners as prescribed;

LB535, sponsored by Sen. Julie Slama of Dunbar, which would require valid photographic identification and change provisions relating to voting under the Election Act and certain identification documents;

LB575, introduced by Omaha Sen. Kathleen Kauth, which would adopt the Sports and Spaces Act;

LB583, introduced by Sen. Rita Sanders of Bellevue on behalf of Gov. Jim Pillen, which would provide for foundation aid and special education supplemental aid under the Tax Equity and Educational Opportunities Support Act;

LB584, introduced by Seward Sen. Jana Hughes, which would impose a tax on selling or dealing in electronic nicotine delivery systems;

LB588, introduced by Sen. Anna Wishart of Lincoln, which would adopt the Medicinal Cannabis Act;

LB616, introduced by Omaha Sen. Mike McDonnell, which would provide for awards under the ImagiNE Nebraska Act relating to the federal Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPS) for America Act; and

LB626, sponsored by Sen. Joni Albrecht of Thurston, which would adopt the Nebraska Heartbeat Act.
