Senators reconvened Jan. 9 to continue introduction of new bills.

Among the 30 measures introduced were:

LB1076, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Machaela Cavanaugh, which would adopt the Public Contract Provider Open Meetings Act;

LB1077, introduced by Sen. Mike McDonnell of Omaha, which would appropriate funds to the state Department of Labor to provide grants for facility expansion relating to workforce development and career readiness programs;

LB1081, sponsored by Lincoln Sen. Danielle Conrad, which would require school districts to comply with student-teacher ratios in certain classrooms;

LB1084, introduced by Sen. Teresa Ibach of Sumner, which would adopt the Nebraska Shortline Rail Modernization Act and provide tax credits;

LB1086, sponsored by Fremont Sen. Lynne Walz, which would eliminate the state Department of Health and Human Services and create three departments;

LB1087, introduced by Sen. Mike Jacobson of North Platte, which would adopt the Hospital Quality Assurance and Access Assessment Act;

LB1090, sponsored by Lincoln Sen. Beau Ballard, which would appropriate funds to the state Department of Administrative Services for the Nebraska Public Safety Communication System;

LB1091, introduced by Sen. Dave Murman of Glenvil, which would provide requirements and restrictions for school boards relating to professional employees’ organizations;

LB1096, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Christy Armendariz, which would provide that certain conduct relating to depictions of sexually explicit or obscene material or material harmful to minors is a deceptive trade practice under the Uniform Deceptive Trade Practices Act; and

LB1101, introduced by Sen. Brian Hardin of Gering, which would provide requirements for the Public Health Early Admission Student Track Program and the Rural Health Opportunities Program.
