Senators reconvened Jan. 18 to continue introduction of new bills.

Among the 45 measures introduced were:

LB1046, sponsored by Brainard Sen. Bruce Bostelman, which would change provisions relating to selection of the board of directors and chief executive officer of certain public power districts;

LB1048, sponsored by Bellevue Sen. Carol Blood, which would appropriate federal funds to the University of Nebraska to evaluate the chemicals released and pollution caused by ethanol production facilities;

LB1050, sponsored by Norfolk Sen. Michael Flood, which would prohibit public postsecondary education institutions from discriminating against student organizations based on viewpoints, beliefs and missions;

LB1052, sponsored by Omaha Sen. John Cavanaugh, which would appropriate federal funds to the Department of Health and Human Services for the Nebraska Homeless Assistance Program;

LB1056, sponsored by Gordon Sen. Tom Brewer, which would provide for local regulation of industrial wind turbines;

LB1063, sponsored by Lincoln Sen. Adam Morfeld, which would appropriate federal funds to the Department of Labor to increase the number of apprentices and provide premium pay;

LB1073, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Justin Wayne, which would create the Department of Housing and Urban Development;

LB1077, sponsored by Blair Sen. Ben Hansen, which would prohibit public schools, public postsecondary institutions and governmental entities from training or teaching certain concepts relating to race and sex and provide for withholding of state funds;

LB1080, sponsored by Bellevue Sen. Rita Sanders, which would change homestead exemption provisions relating to qualifications, application requirements and penalties; and

LB1085, sponsored by Lincoln Sen. Patty Pansing Brooks, which would appropriate federal funds to the State Department of Education for career and technical educational student organizations.
