Bill to require electronic reports passes

Senators gave final approval March 30 to a bill that requires electronic submission of all reports submitted to the Legislature, including reports to standing committees and the fiscal office.

LB782, introduced by Omaha Sen. Beau McCoy authorizes the clerk of the Legislature to establish requirements for the electronic format, submission and distribution of required reports. The clerk may accept a report in written form only upon a showing of good cause.

Provisions of the bill relating to reports filed by lobbyists and principals has an operative date of Jan. 1, 2015.

The bill passed on a 42-0 vote.
