Day three of bill introduction

Lawmakers reconvened Jan. 6 to continue introduction of new bills.

Among the measures introduced were:

LB842, sponsored by Scottsbluff Sen. John Harms, which would change the termination date relating to self-sufficiency activities under the Welfare Reform Act;
LB845, sponsored by Cedar Rapids Sen. Kate Sullivan, which would provide reclamation requirements under the Oil Pipeline Reclamation Act;
LB857, sponsored by O’Neill Sen. Tyson Larson, which would provide for repayment of certain grants from the Nebraska Environmental Trust Fund as prescribed;
LB861, sponsored by Bellevue Sen. Abbie Cornett, which would change hours of sale provisions under the Nebraska Liquor Control Act;
LB862, sponsored by Lincoln Sen. Colby Coash, which would change the salary of Supreme Court judges;
LB866, sponsored by Malcolm Sen. Ken Haar, which would adopt the Nebraska Fair Employment Opportunity Act;
LB867, sponsored by Wilber Sen. Russ Karpisek, which would change employer contribution provisions under certain county retirement plans;
LB869, sponsored by Fremont Sen. Charlie Janssen, which would change provisions relating to the State Athletic Commissioner and change membership of the Athletic Advisory Committee;
LB871, sponsored by Grand Island Sen. Mike Gloor, which would provide for policies relating to fees and copays relating to the Behavioral Health Services Act; and
LB877, sponsored by Cortland Sen. Norm Wallman, which would require disclosure of hydraulic fracturing treatment information.

New bills may be introduced for the first 10 legislative days, or until Jan. 19.

Gov. Dave Heineman’s State of the State address is scheduled for Jan. 12. Committee hearings are scheduled to begin on Jan. 17 and continue through February.

The session will last 60 legislative days and is tentatively scheduled to adjourn April 12.
