Briese resigns, governor seeks applicants

Albion Sen. Tom Briese submitted his resignation from the Nebraska Legislature to Gov. Jim Pillen Oct. 17. Briese recently was appointed by the governor to serve as the next state treasurer. His resignation takes effect Oct. 31.

Pillen announced Oct. 18 that he is accepting applications to fill the Legislative District 41 vacancy. The district includes all of Boone, Greeley, Howard, Sherman, Valley and Wheeler counties as well as portions of Buffalo and Hall counties.

Applications will be accepted by the governor’s office until 5:00 p.m. on Nov. 8. The appointee will serve the remainder of Briese’s legislative term, which ends in January 2025.
