Day 10 bill introduction

Lawmakers reconvened Jan. 22 for the final day of bill introduction.

Among the measures introduced were:

LB1016, introduced by Omaha Sen. Bob Krist, which would grant legislative authorization to purchase a state aircraft and provide for operation;
LB1032, sponsored by Papillion Sen. Bill Kintner, which would require posting of signs regarding abortion;
LB1038, sponsored by Fullerton Sen. Annette Dubas, which would provide an income tax credit for certain property taxes paid on agricultural and horticultural land;
LB1046, sponsored by Holdrege Sen. Tom Carlson, which would create the Water Sustainability Fund and transfer general funds;
LB1051, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Sara Howard, which would adopt the Public Health Leadership and Development Act and appropriate funds to the Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska;
LB1056, sponsored by Hyannis Sen. Al Davis, which would change individual income tax brackets and rates;
LB1059, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Scott Lautenbaugh, which would change membership of learning community coordinating councils;
LB1073, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Steve Lathrop, which would require employers to e-verify immigration status of new employees;
LB1076, sponsored by Lincoln Sen. Kathy Campbell, which would provide for Medicaid reimbursement rates and services for home health care; and
LB1102, sponsored by Bellevue Sen. Sue Crawford, which would redefine marijuana and authorize the medical use of hemp extract as prescribed.

Committee hearings are scheduled to continue through February. The session will last 60 legislative days and is tentatively scheduled to adjourn April 17.
