New state contract approval process adopted
Senators passed a bill May 23 that changes a law passed last year related to state contracts.
Under a law passed in 2012, state agencies are required to submit a copy of the contract and a proof-of-need analysis on all contracts in excess of $15 million.
LB563, introduced by Omaha Sen. Bob Krist, applies the approval requirement only to new state contracts.
The bill passed on a 42-0 vote.
